A Project to Reverse Global Warming?

Project Drawdown provides a roadmap of the top 100 solutions

Drawdown - Paul Hawken

We can solve climate change while saving loads of money.

“Project Drawdown is the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming.”

Drawdown refers to the point in time we are striving for: when the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere starts decreasing yearly rather than continually increasing.

The organization is a growing coalition of more than 200 researchers, business leaders, scholars, and influencers from around the world. Together these experts have modeled, fact-checked, and validated all sources, inputs, and calculations to determine the top 100 solutions existing today that can roll back global warming in the next 30 years.

These solutions would not only stave off the worst effects of climate change, they’d also make the world a much better place to live and save us a ton of money as a society (even before accounting for damages from climate change). In other words, we should be doing these things anyway, even if climate change weren’t threatening our livable world.

Drawdown’s goal is to provide helpful information and tools to people around the world from all walks of life – “to accelerate the knowledge and growth of what is possible.”

The solutions are out there and working. We just need to learn about them and start deploying them at scale so we can build a healthier, wealthier, more equal, and safer world.

Project Drawdown also has a book, written by Paul Hawken. I’m halfway through and it is fantastic (if you’re into big-picture climate change solutions and getting a glimpse of what the future may look like). You can find most of the info on their website too though, including the ranked solutions, the economics, and brief explanations of each.
